Benefits of Meditation

1. Emotional health: Meditation increases tranquil focus while decreasing the “clutter” in the mind. Through the practice of becoming more aware and present, you are able to cultivate a deeper sense of relaxation and develop a new perspective.

2. Physiological health: Meditation has been shown to reduce overall stress. The presence of stress and anxiety can be detrimental to health issues and underlying psychological problems. Meditation targets your inflammation response to stress, thereby reducing the stress-causing hormone, cortisol. A study involving 3,515 participants, published in JAMA Internal Medicine, shows some evidence of the stress-reducing benefits of meditation. Research suggests that meditation may help improve certain symptoms of anxiety, depression and memory loss.
